Bristol has been named as the location of a new National Composites Centre (NCC) which will be a cornerstone of the UK Composites Strategy, and which is funded by the Department for Business, Innovations & Skills with the support of the South West Regional Development Agency.
The Centre will be owned and run by the University of Bristol and will be led and operated in collaboration with leading industry partners.
The vision for the new Centre is for an independent, open-access national centre that delivers world-class innovation in the design and rapid manufacture of composites, and enables their widespread industrial exploitation.
The Centre will form an international hub, linking activities across all sectors of the UK in research, education and training, technology transfer and incubation of new enterprises. Many of our partner organisations will be represented at this launch and I hope that you too will be able to attend.
This event will be held at the Marriott Hotel, 2 Lower Castle Street, Bristol, BS1 3AD which is a five minute taxi-ride from Bristol Temple Meads station and there is plenty of parking at an adjacent multi-storey car-park.
Places are limited, so please would you reply to this invitation as soon as possible.
The event on the 17th March will outline the vision for the NCC, detail what progress has been made, and highlight what contribution you can make to its success.
(NB The Launch was originally to have been held in Rolls-Royce's Conference Centre but, due to the popularity of this event, we have had to book a larger venue.)
